Its surface is characterized by mountains and valleys and covered with thousands of volcanoes, which often have so-called pancake domes with huge diameters. The atmosphere of Venus is permanently opaque because it is enveloped by a dense cloud layer, which gives it a characteristic yellowish appearance.
